The model at a glance
The HP LaserJet Pro 400 M402dn is a professional A4 monochrome laser printer, recommended for offices, professional practices, reception areas, warehouses, shops, administrative departments and small workgroups that need fast, reliable black-and-white printing only.
It is primarily suited to printing documents, text, invoices, contracts, quotes, delivery notes, administrative documents, forms, office paperwork, labels and everyday A4 documents. It is not designed for colour graphics, photographs, copying or scanning, as it is a monochrome printer with print-only functionality.
Print speed: up to 38 pages per minute in A4 black and white, with speeds of up to approximately 40 pages per minute in Letter format.
Functions: print only. It does not have copying, scanning or fax capabilities.
Duplex: automatic duplex printing is built in, helping save paper and handle professional documents, contracts, files and administrative paperwork.
Print resolution: HP FastRes 1200, HP ProRes 1200 and 600 dpi. Quality is suitable for crisp text, professional documents, tables, barcodes, simple charts and business forms.
Supported formats: A4, A5, A6, B5, Letter, Legal, envelopes, postcards and custom sizes. A3 format is not supported.
Supported paper weights: suitable for office paper, letterhead, envelopes, labels and basic media for everyday work.
Paper capacity: 350 sheets standard, comprising a 250-sheet main tray and a 100-sheet multipurpose bypass tray. Expandable to approximately 900 sheets with an optional 550-sheet tray.
ADF: not present, as this model has no copying or scanning functions.
Connectivity: Gigabit Ethernet network and USB. Wi-Fi is not built into the M402dn version; the correct variant for native Wi-Fi is the M402dw.
Control panel: simple display with physical buttons, practical for settings, network management, secure printing and the printer's main functions.
Workload: suitable for small offices and low-to-medium or medium volumes. Recommended monthly volume is approximately 750 to 4,000 pages, with a maximum monthly duty cycle of approximately 80,000 pages.
Main consumables: HP 26A CF226A black toner, with an indicative yield of up to approximately 3,100 pages, and high-yield HP 26X CF226X black toner, up to approximately 9,000 pages.
