Xerox AltaLink C8170
The model at a glance
The Xerox AltaLink C8170 is a high-speed professional A3/SRA3 colour laser multifunction printer, recommended for businesses, graphic design agencies, marketing departments, stationery shops, copy shops, schools, public bodies, in-house print centres and workgroups with high volumes.
Among professional office multifunction printers, Xerox is one of the brands best suited to graphics, colour accuracy and printing on heavy cardstock. The AltaLink C8170 is particularly suitable for brochures, flyers, catalogues, covers, presentations, photographs, invitations, product sheets, advertising materials and documents with logos, images and gradients. It is also good for everyday document printing, but should primarily be recommended to customers seeking high graphic quality and professional media handling.
Print speed: up to 70 pages per minute in A4, in both colour and black and white. It is one of the fastest models in the Xerox AltaLink colour series.
Functions: printing, copying, colour scanning, email and digital document delivery. Fax is available depending on the installed configuration.
Duplex: automatic duplex is built in for printing, copying and scanning. It has a single-pass duplex document feeder that can scan both sides of a sheet simultaneously.
Print resolution: up to 1,200 x 2,400 dpi. It offers superior colour quality compared with standard document multifunction printers and is suitable for photographs, gradients, logos, images, charts, brochures and promotional materials.
Supported sizes: A6, A5, A4, A3, SRA3, envelopes and custom sizes. The bypass tray can also handle long sheets and banners up to approximately 320 x 1,320 mm. SRA3 size allows graphic materials to be printed with bleed for trimming.
Supported paper weights: approximately 52 to 300 g/m², depending on the tray and media used. It handles plain paper, compatible coated paper, glossy paper, cardstock, labels, envelopes, letterhead and other special laser-printing media. It is particularly suitable for users who frequently print on heavy cardstock.
ADF: 250-sheet single-pass duplex automatic document feeder, with scanning speeds of up to approximately 270 images per minute in duplex. It is suitable for quickly digitising contracts, files, archives and large quantities of documents.
Connectivity: Gigabit Ethernet, USB, printing from USB storage, Apple AirPrint, Mopria and NFC. Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct may be available via an optional module.
Work volumes: suitable for high volumes, with a recommended monthly volume of up to approximately 90,000 images and a stated maximum duty cycle of up to approximately 300,000 images per month.
Main consumables: Xerox black toner 006R01758 with an approximate yield of up to 36,000 pages; cyan 006R01759, magenta 006R01760 and yellow 006R01761 toner, each with an approximate yield of up to 21,000 pages per colour. Actual yields may vary depending on coverage, size and document type printed.
Maintenance components: Xerox drum 013R00681 with an approximate yield of up to 180,000 pages; transfer belt cleaner 001R00623 with an approximate service life of up to 160,000 pages; toner waste container with filter 008R08102 with an approximate yield of up to 69,000 pages; fan filter 008R08104 with an approximate service life of up to 500,000 pages. The machine uses a drum and maintenance components separate from the toner cartridges, allowing only the part that is actually depleted to be replaced.
Recommended use: one of the best professional A3 multifunction printers for graphics, colour quality, brochures, flyers, catalogues, photographs, covers, advertising materials and cardstock up to 300 g/m². It is particularly suitable for stationery shops, copy shops, graphic design agencies, marketing departments and businesses requiring high quality together with a speed of 70 pages per minute. Compared with Kyocera, which is more focused on document printing, reliability and low maintenance costs, Xerox should be recommended primarily when the customer prioritises graphic quality, colour and handling heavy media.
