The Samsung MultiXpress SCX-8123NA is a professional A3 monochrome laser multifunction printer, recommended for businesses, offices, professional practices, schools, public bodies, administrative departments and workgroups that need to print, copy and scan documents in large formats.
It is particularly suitable for invoices, contracts, quotes, accounting documents, administrative files, case files, manuals, tables and paper archives. Samsung generally offers versatile machines with a good balance between performance and costs, but this SCX-8123NA is primarily designed for monochrome document printing: it is not suitable for colour graphics or photographs, and it does not offer the specialisation of Xerox for graphics or Kyocera for exceptional component longevity.
Print speed: up to 23 pages per minute in A4 format, for both printing and copying.
Functions: printing, copying, colour scanning of originals, and digital sending to email, USB, computers, FTP servers and network folders. Super G3 fax is optional via the Samsung CLX-FAX160 kit and must therefore be verified for the specific configuration.
Duplex: automatic duplex is integrated for printing, copying and scanning. It has a 100-sheet duplex automatic document feeder, useful for scanning contracts, case files and documents printed on both sides.
Print resolution: native 600 x 600 dpi, with enhanced quality up to 2,400 x 600 dpi in normal mode and up to an effective 9,600 x 600 dpi in best mode. It is suitable for crisp text, tables, lines, forms, monochrome charts and business documents.
Supported formats: A5, A4, A3, Letter, Legal, Ledger, Folio, Oficio, envelopes and custom sizes up to approximately 297 x 432 mm. It is therefore a true A3 multifunction printer, also suitable for floor plans, large tables, case files and administrative documents larger than A4.
Supported paper weights: approximately 60 to 220 g/m² from the main trays and up to approximately 175 g/m² from the multipurpose tray. It handles plain, recycled, letterhead, preprinted and punched paper, labels, heavyweight paper, lightweight cardstock and glossy paper compatible with laser printers.
ADF: 100-sheet duplex automatic document feeder, with scan speeds of up to approximately 45 images per minute in both colour and black and white. Optical scan resolution reaches 600 x 600 dpi.
Connectivity: 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet network, USB 2.0 device port and USB host ports. Wi-Fi is not built in as standard, but can be added using the optional Samsung CLX-NWA20L wireless adapter.
Work volumes: suitable for offices with medium volumes, with a stated maximum duty cycle of up to approximately 100,000 pages per month. To preserve the machine and its components, it is preferable to maintain regular volumes considerably below the maximum duty cycle.
Main consumables: Samsung MLT-D709S black toner, European code MLT-D709S/ELS, with an approximate yield of up to 25,000 pages at 5% coverage.
Maintenance components: Samsung MLT-R709 imaging unit/drum with an approximate life of up to 100,000 pages; Samsung MLT-W709 waste toner container with an approximate life of up to 100,000 pages; Samsung JC96-06208A developer unit, also listed under updated code JC96-10508A; European 220 V Samsung JC91-01050A fuser assembly. Toner, drum, developer and waste toner container are separate components, so they can be replaced individually according to wear.
Recommended use: businesses, administrative offices, professional practices, schools, public bodies and workgroups looking for a monochrome A3 multifunction printer for invoices, contracts, case files, accounting documents, scanning and digital archiving. It is a balanced solution for general business use, but should not be offered to customers looking for colour graphics, photographs, very heavyweight cardstock or a machine specialised for copy shops.
